GreenStone FCS Earns Top Workplace Honors

GreenStone Farm Credit Services has been awarded a 2021 Top Workplaces honor by the Detroit Free Press.

“We are honored by the recognition of being a 2021 Top Workplace,” said GreenStone’s president and CEO Dave Armstrong, who is a 40-year employee. “We try to make this more than just a place to work; a recognition like this makes it evident our staff feel a part of that, too.”

For the fourteenth year, the Free Press partnered with Philadelphia-based Energage, an employee research and culture technology firm, to determine the winners. This is the first time GreenStone has applied for and earned this award.

Any workplace in Michigan with at least 50 employees is eligible to be nominated. After the nomination, companies ask their employees to complete a survey on issues related to workplace culture. Survey feedback from employees was the sole basis for determining winners and rankings.

With just under 600 employees, GreenStone earned top honors coming in number 10 under the large (over 500 employees) Michigan workplace category. The top nine include Plante Moran, Real Estate One, Credit Acceptance, Service Express, Team Rehabilitation, Ally Financial, Edward Jones, and the MSU Federal Credit Union. GreenStone’s smaller size in relation to many of these companies is a notable achievement.

“We appreciate that our staff embodies our core company values, and we are glad this is a place people want to work,” said Beth Barker, executive vice president chief human resources officer. “We’re focused on recruitment, retainment, and ultimately, enjoyment.”
