Yahara Pride Farms Hosts Watershed Wide Conference

Yahara Pride Farms will host its annual Watershed-Wide Conference on Wednesday, March 6, at the Comfort Inn and Suites in DeForest.

More than 100 farmers, agribusiness professionals, and community members are expected to attend this free educational event. The public also is invited.

Attendees will learn about planting cover crops for weed suppression research, the YPRF Cost Share Program, and more.

Graduate student Jose Junior Nunes will focus on the aspects of adopting cereal rye cover crops for weed suppression in soybean production systems. He will cover management recommendations to achieve cereal rye biomass levels effective for weed suppression, the impacts of cereal rye biomass on pre-emergence herbicide fate in the soil, and how cereal rye can impact soybean yield.
