Soybean Harvest is 98% Complete

Many Wisconsin farmers were pushing to get crops out of the fields before the cold and snowy weekend. Corn harvest, fall tillage and manure application continued during most of the week. The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service released another Crop Progress and Condition report to give updates.

USDA reporters say the corn for grain harvest is only 85% complete, close to the five-year average for this time of year. The average moisture content last week was 19%.

Wisconsin’s soybean harvest is 98% finished, as farmers prioritized the beans ahead of cold weather.

Ninety-seven percent of the winter wheat crop has emerged. Winter wheat condition was 66 percent good to excellent, up 1 percent from last week.

Fall tillage was 75 percent complete, 8 days behind last year.

USDA has completed the weekly crop reports for this season and will resume their surveys in April.
