River Falls dairy students take home top honors at Midwest Regional Dairy Challenge

The 2021 Midwest Regional Dairy Challenge was hosted in a virtual format, given continued travel and gathering restrictions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Student teams were provided many videos, photos and data from a midwestern dairy farm and charged with the task of identifying strengths and areas of opportunity for the farm. Along with this, teams must propose recommendations for how to improve the farm and justify it from logistic and economic standpoints.

Two teams represented UWRF. Team one included Cayley Vande Berg, Kaylee Warner, Brock Irwin, Taylor Rauenhorst, and Elizabeth Bekkers. Team two included Kirsten Clark, Alyssa Seitz, Marie Haase, Emily Benrud, Megan Schuh, and Ethan Greden.

The 19 teams were broken into four groups to be judged, and both UWRF teams won 1st place in their respective groups. The teams thank their coach, Dr. Sylvia Kehoe, for her continued support and mentorship.
