Attend Upcoming PDPW Workshops

PDPW has two education events on July’s calendar: a dairy robotics tour on Thursday and a hoof health workshop on July 20. Shelly Mayer, the executive director of PDPW shares the details:

Sponsored by Lely, the Dairy Robotics Tour is designed for dairy owners, managers and herds people looking to maximize efficiencies. The one-day program, with a tour bus pick-up at 9 a.m. and returning at 4 p.m. at the Shawano Community High School, 220 County Road B, Shawano, Wis., will be held at the following farms:

  • Horsens Homestead, Jeff, Connie and Ryan Horsens, Cecil, Wis.
  • Shawland Dairy, Kevin, Jim and Matthew Ainsworth, Shawano, Wis.
  • Olson Dairy Farms, Inc., Kurt, Jr. and Krysta Olson, Birnamwood, Wis.

Cost to register is $79 for PDPW members and $200 for non-members, which covers workshop materials and lunch. The 2021 PDPW Dairy Robotics Tour is an accredited training and offers up to 4.5 Dairy AdvanCE continuing education (CE) credits. To learn more or secure credits, visit www.DairyAdvance.org.

The PDPW Hoof Health Workshop will be held:

  • July 20 at Brooks Farms, N1757 Cty Rd. A, Waupaca, Wis.,
  • July 28 at Entwistle Bros. Farm, LLC, 105 Birdseye Rd., Frankfort, New York, and
  • Aug. 3, at Drumgoon Dairy, 19048 U.S. Hwy 81, Lake Norden, South Dakota.

The interactive workshop, which begins at 9:30 a.m. and concludes at 3:45 p.m., will present a case study of each farm. Attendees will get to observe the farm’s hoof heath records, facility design and potential risk factors and offer practical strategies to address them.

The registration fee of $100 with $75 for each additional attendee, covers workshop materials and lunch. The 2021 PDPW Hoof Health Workshop is an accredited training and offers up to 4.75 Dairy AdvanCE continuing education (CE) credits. To learn more or secure credits, visit www.DairyAdvance.org.
