Research Investment Requested In Legislation

Wisconsin growers have been national leaders in both cranberry and potato production, and two bills authored by Senator Patrick Testin (Stevens Point) and Representative Nancy VanderMeer (Tomah) would help to continue that success. The newly introduced legislation increases Wisconsin’s investment in research and marketing by $500,000 per biennium for each crop.

“Rep. VanderMeer and I want to provide Wisconsin farmers with a research and marketing infrastructure that keeps them at the forefront of new developments and new opportunities,” said Senator Testin. “These bills are a solid investment in Central Wisconsin and the future of our state’s farm economy.”

Both bills will circulate for co-sponsorship until Wednesday, February 17th.
