FoodShare Retailers Can Apply for Free Wireless Purchasing Equipment

Beginning  Dec. 7, DHS will be offering retailers across Wisconsin the opportunity to obtain free equipment that they can use to accept FoodShare payments wirelessly. Eligible retailers include not only grocers, but also other vendors that sell food, like gas stations, farmers markets, and direct marketing farmers.

The goal of this program is to increase FoodShare members’ access to alternative grocery shopping options, such as curbside pick-up and payment. These services decrease risk of COVID-19 infection for both customers and retail workers by limiting person-to-person interactions.

To apply for equipment, visit the application site and have the following information available:

  • USDA Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Number
  • Business Name
  • Business Address
  • Federal Tax ID
  • Business Email

This program is supported by funds from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Interested retailers should apply as soon as possible to avoid missing out.  To find out more or apply for the program, retailers should visit: https://totilpay.com/wisconsinebt/.

Note: This program is separate from the wireless equipment program for farmer’s markets announced by DHS at the end of October, which runs through the September 2021. Farmer’s markets and direct marketing farmers interested in that opportunity can send questions to [email protected].
