Wright Named WiRSA Administrator of the Year

The Wisconsin Rural Schools Alliance (WiRSA) awarded Sauk Prairie School District Superintendent Jeff Wright the title “Administrator of the Year” at its Annual Conference on October 28th and 29th. WiRSA’s Board of Directors created this award to recognize administrators who significantly impact rural school districts.

Wright has led Sauk Prairie for 13 years, serving as superintendent for the past six. Before his time in Sauk Prairie, he worked as a high school principal on Chicago’s south side. Retired Dodgeville Superintendent Jeff Jacobson and Sauk Prairie School Board President James Isaacson nominated him. Their nomination stated, “Jeff Wright and the Sauk Prairie School District have chosen to be the hub for problem-solving in their community. In doing so, Mr. Wright has demonstrated leadership in his school district and community, embracing collaborative efforts that have led to innovations benefiting Sauk Prairie Schools and the students and families thriving there.”

Highlighted initiatives include a new collaborative childcare center, affordable housing developments for new teachers and essential workers, a fresh approach to mental health services, and a workforce development partnership with the Wisconsin Economic Development Council in advanced manufacturing, agricultural science, and medical careers.

“It is exciting to do this work with an amazing team of educators and in a community so supportive of its schools,” Wright said. “We all know that when our schools thrive, our communities thrive.”
