The Wisconsin Pork Association (WPA) Youth Committee recently awarded 52 young people with $100 scholarships. This is to help offset the costs of their upcoming 4-H and FFA swine projects. The Youth Pig Project scholarship program began in 2003 to encourage youth to become involved in the Wisconsin pork industry. Doing so through projects that offer opportunities to develop life skills and showcase career options.
Wisconsin youth submitted nearly 180 applications for consideration. The application included information on their project goals, a projected project budget, and future goals. Additionally, to receive their funds, recipients are required to participate in a 30-minute webinar hosted by WPA. The webinar focuses on We Care and biosecurity- both pillars of the pork industry.
