Witt Joins Sand County Foundation

Sand County Foundation has hired Parker Witt as an Agricultural Conservation Specialist. Witt is a 2021 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Soil and Land Management.

Sand County Foundation, based in Wisconsin, is a national non-profit working with farmers, ranchers, and forestland owners to improve soil health, water quality and wildlife habitat. Witt will assist the Foundation’s agricultural conservation team with research, and landowner engagement.

“Parker’s hands-on technical field training and true passion for the landscape’s natural resources aligns well with Sand County Foundation’s mission,” said Dr. Heidi Peterson, Sand County Foundation’s Vice President of Agricultural Research and Conservation. Witt completed a field study abroad in water quality, ecosystem interactions, and resource management practices of Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic. He had agronomy internships with agricultural cooperatives, and spent two seasons as a watercraft inspection intern with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. “It is exciting to join the Sand County Foundation team at a time when conservation is so critical to our environment and agricultural systems,” Witt said. Witt, a Lakeland, Minnesota native will work in Sand County Foundation’s Madison office.
