The Wisconsin Pork Association and UW-Extension are excited to announce that the Wisconsin Swine Health Series will continue on September 23rd, 2025. It will be held at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneer Farm Ag Technology Center located at 29200 College Farm Rd. Platteville, WI. This seminar will focus on Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS). The event will commence with supper at 5:30 p.m. followed by the seminar from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. All pork producers and industry members are invited to attend this educational event.
According to studies at Iowa State University, PRRS is the most economically damaging disease in the U.S. pork industry. These studies show it costs producers an estimated $1.2 billion in 2024 alone. Dr. Brent Pepin of the National Pork Board will provide an all-encompassing look at PRRS. He will talk about what it is and how to prevent it and treatment and elimination strategies. Attendees will obtain practical, scientific information from industry experts. They will gain real-life insight from pork producers who have dealt firsthand with this devastating disease.
UW-Extension and the Wisconsin Pork Association are committed to connecting pork producers and
industry stakeholders to resources that are current and relevant to topics that affect them
daily. Collaborating on events, such as this, is a great opportunity to enhance WPA’s mission of promoting and protecting the state’s pork industry to ensure its success now and in the future.
