Wisconsin Farmers Receive $41 Million for Conservation

Wisconsin farmers will receive over $41 million to strengthen conservation efforts, boost sustainability, and support climate-friendly practices. This funding aims to help farmers expand practices that protect soil health, improve water quality, and enhance the agricultural economy.

“Farmers across our state lead in conservation, and this investment provides the tools they need to expand sustainable practices and strengthen their businesses,” said U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin. “This funding will help Wisconsin agriculture grow while addressing climate change and ensuring a strong economic future for our farming communities.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP), supported by the Inflation Reduction Act, has awarded these funds to key projects:

  • Midwest Greener Future: $21,242,000 to reduce greenhouse gases in dairy production, enhance water quality, and expand sustainable practices like cover cropping, reduced tillage, conservation crop rotation, feed management, and waste separation.
  • Milwaukee River Basin Conservation Partnership: $19,882,000 to support climate resiliency, soil health, water quality, and economic growth for landowners and producers across Southeastern Wisconsin’s Milwaukee River Basin.

This investment aims to make sustainable farming practices more accessible, benefiting farmers and the environment alike.
