The Wisconsin Association of Fairs (WAF) Annual Convention welcomed nearly 900 attendees this year, offering fair board members and associates a place to network and plan for 2022.
Jayme Buttke, the Executive Secretary and Treasurer of WAF, says that although their convention was held virtually last year, nothing can replace the face-to-face connections that are made annually in the Wisconsin Dells.
She says one of the greatest challenges facing the fair industry in 2022 is the decline in exhibitors and total exhibits at fairs across the state. WAF is working closely with UW-Extension to not only increase these numbers and bring families back to the fair, but to also keep fairs in the public eye year round.
Beginning March 1st, WAF will be launching a fair stories campaign where fairgoers can share their favorite fair memories for a chance to win a cash prize. More information about the contest can be will be available at midwestfarmreport.com.
