Wisconsin Fairs Push Forward

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought forward challenges for the agriculture industry, which doesn’t exclude Wisconsin Fairs or the entertainment industry.

Marla Calico, President and CEO of the International Association of Fairs and Expositions, says that despite these challenges, fairs now have an opportunity to reach consumers in a new way.

She says that fair board members have worked to revamp their fair programs over the last few years, exploring flexible programing to attract new attendees while still honoring the agricultural programs the fairs are built on.

Moving into 2022, she says fairs have created and will continue to build upon new youth leadership opportunities within their fair communities, including talking to consumers about agriculture.
