Wisconsin egg production during August was 205 million eggs, down 5 percent from the previous August, according to the latest Chickens and Eggs report from the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.
The average number of all layers on hand during August was 7.64 million, down 5 percent from last year. Eggs per 100 layers for August was 2,686, up slightly from a year ago.
Meanwhile, U.S. egg production is down 3 percent from last year totaling 9.08 billion in August.
The average number of layers during August totaled 370 million, down 3 percent from last year. August egg production per 100 layers was 2,451 eggs, up slightly from the year before. Total layers in the U.S. on September 1, totaled 372 million, down 3 percent from last year.
