The Jefferson County Fair Park is hosting their annual Fairest of the Fair competition, continuing a tradition started in 1992. This event selects one outstanding individual to serve as the official ambassador of the Jefferson County Fair, representing its agricultural, educational, social, and cultural values throughout 2025.
The Fairest of the Fair will promote the Fair at parades, festivals, community events, and through radio interviews. Thanks to PremierBank, the event’s signature sponsor, this cherished tradition remains a cornerstone of community engagement.
Meet the Candidates
This year, two talented contestants—Hanna Brattlie and MacKenzie Thom—are vying for the prestigious title.
Hanna Brattlie has spent 10 years hatching, raising, and showing chickens, as well as raising mini lop rabbits. She is passionate about mentoring youth and sharing her knowledge at the Fair. Hanna is currently a freshman at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, pursuing a career in the meat industry or youth outreach.
MacKenzie Thom grew up attending the Fair and actively supporting young animal exhibitors. She is a first-year student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with aspirations to become a patrol police officer.
The Selection Process
The competition begins January 10th with judging day and culminates in the Coronation Event on January 26th. Three esteemed judges will evaluate the candidates:
- Jim Braughler: A Jefferson County Supervisor with deep roots in fairs and public speaking.
- Rochelle Mitchell: Vice President at PremierBank and a dedicated supporter of the Jefferson County Fair.
- Cheryl Ehrke: A seamstress, dairy farmer, and long-time 4-H leader with 55 years of Fair involvement.
Recognition and Rewards
Both candidates will receive sashes, Jefferson County Fairest apparel, and a season pass to the Fair. The winner will also receive a scholarship at the end of their reign, ensuring the Fairest of the Fair continues to inspire and uplift the Jefferson County community.
