Who Has Wisconsin’s Best Burger? The Final Eight Are In!

The Wisconsin Beef Council announced the Elite Eight finalists in the 2nd Annual Wisconsin’s Best Burger Contest. This competition highlights 100% beef burgers made in Wisconsin’s restaurants, bars, and grills. Burger lovers across the state have eagerly participated, nominating their favorites over the past month.

The Elite Eight finalists, based on the highest number of nominations, are:

  • 11:11 Burgers and Beignets – Fond du Lac
  • Brazen Head Pub – West Bend
  • Brothers on Oak – Baraboo
  • The Dump Bar & Grill – Cambria
  • Iron Horse Saloon – Hurley
  • Local Press Burger Bar – Kewaskum
  • Mihm’s Charcoal Grill – Menasha
  • Straight Home Bar & Grill – Eland

“These Elite Eight establishments will now be visited by a secret panel of judges who will evaluate their burgers,” said Tammy Vaassen, Wisconsin Beef Council Executive Director. “The Elite Eight will also see new customers coming through their doors, all wanting to try a delicious burger. We can’t wait to unveil the champion on May 1 to kick off May Beef Month.”

Each burger will be judged on multiple factors, including taste (50 points), appearance (30 points), proper doneness (10 points), and overall enjoyment (10 points). Bonus points may be awarded for the dining environment, atmosphere, and overall experience (up to 5 points).

To qualify for the contest, burgers had to meet specific guidelines. The burger must be 100% beef, though seasonings and other ingredients could be added. Each burger must also be served on a bun or other bread product, with toppings, condiments, and sauces placed between the bread or served open-faced.
