The Division of Extension, UW-Madison, Chippewa County Extension Office will host a casual field day on nitrogen management and groundwater quality at Triple T Farms north of Chippewa Falls on August 19 from 10:30am to noon. The program is part of the Nitrogen Optimization Pilot Program funded through the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection. Participants will learn about nitrogen application and management and how nitrogen impacts groundwater.
Speakers and topics include, Dr. Steven Hall, Extension Water Quality Specialist, UW-Madison, Department of Plant and Agroecosystem Sciences, “Understanding nitrogen movement and lysimeters”; Lindsey Rushford, Extension, On-Farm Nitrogen Optimization Coordinator, “What we have learned through NOPP”; and Jerry Clark, Extension, Regional Crops and Soils Educator, “Local on-farm nitrogen research results.”
The field day is located at 9505, CTY HWY Q, north of Chippewa Falls. The event is sponsored by the Nitrogen Optimization Pilot Program.
