Rep. Travis Tranel, R-Cuba City, was sworn into office at the Inauguration Day ceremony in the State Capitol. Tranel will serve as the Chair of the Assembly Agriculture Committee and Vice-Chair of the Assembly Commerce Committee. He’s also a member of the Energy & Utilities and Insurance Committees.
“I am truly humbled to have the opportunity to keep serving Southwest Wisconsin,” Tranel says. “And it’s an honor to once again Chair the Assembly Agriculture Committee.”
The Assembly Agriculture Committee helps guide policy and pass legislation that impacts Wisconsin’s second-largest industry. Agriculture contributes nearly $116.3 billion annually to the state economy and supports approximately 353,900 jobs.
“Family farming in Wisconsin is a way of life. I will continue to fight for the people of Southwest Wisconsin and look forward to finding new ways to support our rural schools, improve roads, strengthen agriculture, and lower the tax burden,” says Tranel. “Even though less than 2 percent of the U.S. population currently farms, 100 percent of the population eats, so the future of ag is important for everyone.”
During his time in the legislature, Rep. Tranel helped create the Agriculture Road Improvement Program. He’s also worked on the Dairy Innovation Hub, and Ag Tourism Law to grow Wisconsin’s economy.
Tranel lives on his active family dairy farm in rural Cuba City. The 49th Assembly District includes all of Crawford County, significant portions of Grant County, and parts of Vernon County.
