Spanish For Dairy — Back By Popular Demand

Interest in classes that teach Spanish for dairy farming continues to grow. The Farm and Industry Short Course at UW-Madison is back with a Spanish for Dairy class for farmers and anyone who works with dairy farms.

FISC Program Manager Heather Gayton explains that the course is composed of two classes, available to be taken in sequence or on their own, for individuals looking to learn important technical vocabulary for communicating in Spanish on a dairy farm or in the industry.

Level 1

Introductory course for those with little to no Spanish language experience

  • Covers relevant terminology and syntax for basic understanding of the Spanish language
  • Introduces Spanish vocabulary and grammar for use in the dairy industry
  • Participants can earn up to 20 DairyAdvanCE CEU credits
  • Two online schedule options: at your own pace or with an instructor
  • Next offering: August–September 2024

Level 2

Introductory course for those who have completed Level 1 or previous Spanish language experience

  • Provides additional Spanish language grammar for advanced conversations in the workplace
  • Covers technical terminology and vocabulary for dairy production practices
  • Two online schedule options: at your own pace or with an instructor
  • Next offering: January–February 2025

The next Spanish for Dairy offering will be a Level 1 class, starting August–September 2024.
