Soil Health Center Of Regenerative Farming Presentation

Regenerative agriculture is a practice that focuses on the connection between farming practices and the ecological system as a whole in an effort to help reduce the effects of climate change.

Allen Williams, a 6th generation family farmer and founding partner of Grass Fed Insights, LLC, Understanding Ag, LLC, and the Soil Health Academy, says that farmers will start to see some of the impacts of regenerative agriculture in their first year.

He says with proper planning, farms and ranches can create multiple revenue stream opportunities and enhance profitability. By decreasing nitrogen application and focusing on topsoil regeneration, he says farmers can take a greater step towards sustainable farming for the future.

Williams will be hosting a presentation involving the promise and challenges of soil health in Ridgeway, Iowa on February 24th. The event will be from 1-4p.m. at the Ridgeway Community Center.

Following the presentation, the Land Stewardship Project and Practical Farmers of Iowa will co-host a free screening of “Livestock on the Land,” a new documentary focussed on regenerative grazing.
