Small Grain Numbers Are In

In 2023, Langlade County was the largest oat-producing county in Wisconsin with 629,000 bushels, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Marathon County was second with 241,000. Manitowoc County was the third-largest oat-producing county with 172,000 bushels.

The highest yielding county was Langlade with an average of 83 bushels per acre harvested. Fond du
Lac County had the second-highest yield at 80.2 bushels per acre. Yields are calculated by dividing a county’s production by its area harvested. Only published estimates were considered in rankings of counties.

The lowest yielding county was Polk at 21. Washburn had the second lowest yield at 26.5.

In 2023, Dodge County was the largest winter wheat-producing county in Wisconsin with 1.52 million bushels. Fond du Lac County was second with 1.36 million bushels. Manitowoc County was the third-largest winter wheat-producing county with 1.2 million bushels.

The highest yielding county was Racine with an average of 94.6 bushels per acre harvested. Dodge County had the second-highest yield at 94.1 bushels per acre.

The lowest yielding county was Langlade at 44.2. Waupaca had the second lowest yield at 49.3.
