Cool, crisp air and glowing candlelight are perfect fall companions. This season, enjoy candlelight hikes and festivals across Wisconsin. Many events offer additional activities, like bonfires and pumpkin carving, plus food and beverages for purchase. Bring family, make friends, and experience the outdoors in a whole new way.

Upcoming candlelight events:

Fall Harvest Festival – Saturday, Sept. 28
3 – 8 p.m.
Wyalusing State Park

The festival kicks off at 3 p.m. with pumpkin carving at the Peterson Shelter. Enjoy a short pumpkin candlelight hike and live music.

Fall Candlelight Hike – Saturday, Oct. 12
6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Kohler-Andrae State Park

Take a self-guided walk on torch-lit trails and hear the sounds of autumn. Gather around the campfire for entertainment and activities for all ages. The hike starts and ends at the indoor shelter above parking lot P7.

Candlelight Walk – Saturday, Oct. 12
6 – 8 p.m.
Council Grounds State Park

Join us on the Big Pines Trail for a candlelight walk. Small lights guide you through the woods, hills, and boardwalks. For paved surface walking, part of the boat landing loop road is available. The one-mile walk takes 20-30 minutes. Enjoy warming fires at the beach shelter, courtesy of the Friends of Council Grounds. Bring a flashlight and s’mores ingredients.

Candlelight Hike – Saturday, Oct. 19
6 – 8 p.m.
Copper Falls State Park

Stroll a one-mile illuminated loop on the Red Granite Trail. Stay for family fun with wildlife educator Chris Cold and his owl. Enjoy marshmallows around the campfire, the Dancing Witches, and food and drinks for sale.

Halloween Candlelight Mystery Hike – Saturday, Oct. 19
6 – 8 p.m.
Mirror Lake State Park

Start at the Picnic Area for a family-friendly mystery hike along a torch-lit trail. Look for clues with Park Naturalist Meghan at the Discovery Station. After solving the mystery, warm up by the bonfires with hot chocolate and treats from the Friends of Mirror Lake. This event is free, but a valid Wisconsin State Park admission pass is required. Passes can be purchased online or at the park office upon arrival.
