Safety, knowledge and precision driving took center stage as the Wisconsin Propane Gas Association (WPGA) recently hosted its first Bobtail Roadeo at Country Visions Cooperative in Brillion.
The September 16 event brought together 13 contestants and approximately 30 volunteers to celebrate the professionals who safely deliver propane to Wisconsin homes, farms and businesses.
“The Bobtail Roadeo put the spotlight on our drivers and the tremendous knowledge and skill required to safely deliver propane,” said Cheryl Lytle, Executive Director of WPGA. “We wanted the event to be fun while recognizing just how skilled these professionals are.”
Contestants had to complete a Safety Quiz, Pre-Trip Inspection Challenge, and Bobtail Driving Challenge designed to test the skills they use every day.
Nolan Volquardsen of Allied Cooperative earned First Place, followed by Allied Cooperative teammate Mike Armbruster in Second. Kathryn Snow of AmeriGas earned Third Place.
Individual challenge awards went to Dave Karis of ALCIVIA for the top Safety Quiz score, Nolan Volquardsen for the top Pre-Trip Inspection score, and Kathryn Snow for the top Driving Challenge score.
Cody’s DJ Service provided music throughout the event, keeping spirits high as contestants competed, and industry colleagues cheered them on.
WPGA thanks the volunteers, sponsors, judges and participating companies whose support made the inaugural Roadeo a success, and congratulates all 13 contestants who put their knowledge and skills to the test.
