Rural Influence On Wisconsin Remains High

The Rural Policy Institute (RPI) is pleased to announce the release of its full report, Rural-Urban Balance in Wisconsin. This report provides an in-depth analysis of Wisconsin’s population distribution and the evolving role of rural communities in the state.

To further discuss the report’s findings and implications, RPI hosted an event in Madison last week. The event brought together policymakers, stakeholders, and community leaders for a conversation on the future of rural Wisconsin. The event underscored the need for ongoing dialogue and collaboration to ensure rural voices are heard and represented.

“This report creates, for the first time, an accurate working definition of what is indeed “rural” in our state,” said RPI Executive Director, Robert Welch. “And it highlights how we remain a rural state with solid growth projected in rural areas.”

The full report highlights how even with recent legislative map changes the number of districts with significant rural influence remains high. Additionally, the report explores trends in rural growth and economic development, emphasizing the opportunities and challenges facing Wisconsin’s rural regions.

Interested parties are encouraged to review the findings to gain a deeper understanding of the evolving rural-urban dynamic in Wisconsin. A file of the full report is available upon request.
