Where fields were dry enough, manure spreading, spring tillage and fertilizer applications took place. Planting of soybeans and corn continued, although soil temperatures remain on the cool side.
Topsoil moisture condition rated 0 percent very short, 3 percent short, 55 percent adequate, and 42 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture condition rated 0 percent very short, 2 percent short, 68 percent adequate, and 30 percent surplus.
Corn planting was 10 percent complete compared to the 5-year average of 15 percent. Oat planting was 29 percent complete compared to the average of 41 percent. Ten percent of oats had emerged. Soybean planting was 10 percent complete compared to the average of 13 percent. Spring tillage was 35 percent complete compared to the average of 44 percent.
Pasture and range condition was 50 percent good to excellent, up 5 percentage points from last week.
Winter wheat condition was 56 percent good to excellent, up 3 percentage points from last week.
