Plain Pastures hosted its inaugural “Lattes with Llamas” event in partnership with Buzzed Bean Coffee Co. The event drew hundreds of attendees despite temperatures dipping below 20°F. Visitors embraced the cold to enjoy llamas, hot beverages, and community giving, donating a generous amount of winter gear to benefit Tower Rock Elementary School students.
The event highlighted Wisconsin’s growing agricultural tourism sector, which attracts visitors to the state’s farms and rural areas. Plain Pastures, home to 17 llamas and 2 alpacas, demonstrated how agritourism connects people to farming in unique and engaging ways. Guests interacted with the llamas by feeding, petting, and posing for photos against a festive, holiday-themed backdrop. Additional activities included crafting llama ornaments and browsing llama-inspired goods such as cookies, figurines, and socks.
Kelsey Kreul, owner of Back 40 Boutique and a dedicated llama owner, organized the event to share her love of llamas while fostering a sense of community. Buzzed Bean Coffee Co., a Sauk Prairie-based coffee truck, debuted its winter menu.
Wisconsin’s agritourism industry contributes significantly to the state’s economy, with over 23 million people visiting farms annually for activities like hayrides, petting zoos, and seasonal events. The success of this event showcased the power of agritourism to bring people together, create lasting memories, and strengthen rural communities.
