Piglet Day Is Something To Squeal About

Families and animal lovers are invited to Piglet Day at the Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center. This will take place on Saturday, February 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This fun-filled event will offer hands-on, educational experiences featuring live piglets and interactive activities.

Peter Family Show Pigs, will be on site with a litter of piglets and their friendly mama sow. Guests will have the opportunity to be up close with the piglets – petting and engaging with the animals – while also learning from swine experts about their award-winning pigs.

“The Peter family is so special to Farm Wisconsin,” shares Abigail Winkel, Farm Wisconsin brand manager. “Year after year, they take time to share not only their piglets, but also their industry knowledge with our guests. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication to agriculture education.”

The Wisconsin Pork Producers and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Animal Sciences will have various pig-related activities throughout the building. Guests can participate in making Pig’s Chex Mix, an activity that replicates the process of creating a balanced feed mix for pigs. Attendees can also enjoy designing ear tags, matching pig breeds, practicing ear notching, and other fun hands-on experiences.

Additionally, the Wisconsin Café at Farm Wisconsin will feature a special pulled pork sandwich. Guests are invited to dine in the café for breakfast and lunch, open from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

All Piglet Day activities are included in the price of general admission to Farm Wisconsin. Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the reception desk on the day of the event.
