PDPW Gives Policy & Silage Update

Here’s a sneak peak at three new episodes of Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin’s The Dairy Signal.

The podcasts start airing on Tuesday. Tuesday’s addition will review 2021 silage harvest and quality and implications for feed rations. On Wednesday, top Wisconsin government officials will discuss the Wisconsin Farm Support Program and other rural topics. The Thursday episode will feature a producer panel with insights on farmers market challenges and opportunities.

Tuesday, Nov. 16
Tune in for an update on silage quality from the 2021 harvest season, as well as a discussion of the implications of hard corn kernels and digestibility. Episode presenter will be:

  • John Goeser, director of Nutritional Research & Innovation at Rock River Lab, Inc., and UW-Madison Dairy Science professor.

Wednesday, Nov. 17
Top state officials will join The Dairy Signal to share an update on the $50 million in direct aid to Wisconsin farmers through the Wisconsin Farm Support Program to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on the industry. They will also discuss a number of key issues and topics for rural Wisconsin. Episode presenters will be:

Thursday, Nov. 18
Learn the ins and outs of farmers markets from a panel of producers who will share their experiences. Bring your questions about selecting markets, preparing, promoting and connecting with customers. Episode presenters will be:

  • Shelly Grosenick, owner of Crimson Kitchen and Gardens
  • Katy Schultz, co-owner at Tri-Fecta Farms Family Market
