Dairy farmers aiming to boost farm efficiency, cut carbon emissions, and also promote sustainability can now access financial support through Tier 2 of the Your Farm – Your Footprint initiative.
Professional Dairy Producers (PDP), in partnership with Dairy’s Foundation, has launched Tier 2 as a next step in this producer-led, non-governmental environmental program. Building on Tier 1, which provided a carbon-footprint assessment, Tier 2 now offers financial incentives for sustainable farming practices.
Your Farm – Your Footprint Tier 2 Benefits Include:
- Cost-share funding – Eligible dairy farmers in certain milk sheds can receive financial help to implement sustainability-focused practices.
- Confidential and farmer-led – As with Tier 1, all farm data remains private, giving farmers full control over their information.
- Peer groups – Farmers can join peer groups to share ideas and best practices.
- Sustainable dairy industry – This initiative, supported by Dairy’s Foundation and Nestlé, helps achieve U.S. dairy sustainability goals.
“Tier 2 is a big step forward in helping dairy farmers use science-based solutions to enhance sustainability and profitability,” said John Haag, a dairy farmer from Dane, Wis., and president of PDP. “With cost-share funding, farmers can take action to improve their operations and long-term success. This is a great chance to address sustainability goals on their farms.”
