Join Golden Sands RC&D at Bob and Penny Leder’s farm to learn about virtual fence collars and custom grazing! This free event will be held on July 9, from 5-7PM. RSVPs appreciated.
The Leders have been practicing rotational grazing on their farm since the mid-1980’s. This year, they started custom grazing dairy heifers for Wepner Farms, a nearby dairy farm. Custom grazing is an arrangement where a livestock owner pays a landowner to graze their animals on the land. The landowner provides the forage, labor, and management, while the livestock owner retains ownership of the animals. Dairy heifers have different grazing requirements than beef cattle, and we will learn about their unique needs.
The cattle on the Leders’ farm are outfitted with virtual fence collars. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit celebrating over 50 years of solutions for a healthy economy and a healthy environment in Central Wisconsin. We’ll have the opportunity to discuss how these collars are used to rotationally manage the cattle. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning about new grazing technologies and the benefits of grazing dairy heifers!
