If you’ve been hoping to get to a WiWiC field day this year, this is the event for you!
The organization is heading to Maiv Flower Farm in Eau Claire on Aug. 6 to hear from mother-daughter market-grower dynamic duo Mai Xee Xiong and Pa Thao, WiWiC’s Eau Claire County Conservation Coach. These two have decades of experience growing vegetables and flowers for farmers’ markets and institutions.
The field day runs from 4-7 p.m. Pa will give a tour and talk about the Local Foods Purchase Assistance program, how they grow culturally specific foods, and how they process goods for food pantries.
Maiv Flower Farm is located at 2478 70th St, Eau Claire, WI 54703.
Local USDA office staff will be on hand to talk about the kind of programs and incentives that are available to market farms, such as high tunnels/hoop houses. Environmental Quality Incentives Program deadlines will be explained by Jamie Bischel USDA- NRCS conservationist. The event organizer is Mercedes Talvitie, WiWiC Coordinator and Climate and Conservation Specialist with Marbleseed.
This field day will be led in both HMoob and English languages. Food is provided. Pack a camp chair!
