Fed lamb prices continue to work higher. USDA’s National Sheep Summary called prices steady to $30/cwt higher, although that still makes them nearly 10 percent lower than a year ago.
The net cutout value of $468.88 was $4 higher than the previous Friday. Wholesale leg and loin prices are showing good gains.
Harvest last week included Thanksgiving, unlike the same week a year ago. The estimated sheep and lamb harvest was 31,000 head, 6,000 fewer than the prior week, and 9,000 fewer than last year.
Locally, shorn lambs brought $139-$167/cwt.
