As today’s dairy industry continues to change and evolve at an increasing pace, a solid financial foundation is critical. A series of programs from Professional Dairy Producers® will provide dairy producers and other dairy business owners with the understanding and skills to transform how they approach their business finances.
It is the only financial development program designed specifically for the dairy industry. Financial Literacy for Dairy® was created by PDP in 2017. The multi-level, multi-session format is unique. This is because it ensures that participants are enrolled in the level that best fits their skills and needs. It also allows them to put the concepts they learn in sessions to work at their farm or business. Doing so before returning for the next round of training. All Financial Literacy for Dairy sessions are facilitated by Dr. Kevin Bernhardt, Professor of Agribusiness at UW-Platteville and UW-Extension Farm Management Specialist. As well as David Coggins, senior financial leader and retired agricultural loan officer.
The PDP Business Management & Advanced Finance Workshop™ was introduced in 2024 as a two-day capstone program. It provides the skills and strategies to transform operations into professionally managed, high-performing enterprises. The program incorporates interactive case studies and real-world applications to deepen understanding of financial, human resources and family-business-governance topics. The workshop is facilitated by Dick Wittman, a globally recognized expert and owner of Wittman Consulting.
