Grape Harvest Begins At Bailey’s Run

Bailey’s Run vineyard staff and a crew of volunteers will kick off the 2024 harvest season in New Glarus this week.

Edelweiss, an aromatic white grape, is the first variety to be harvested. Four more harvests will follow, as grape varieties including Marquette and Petite Pearl ripen through the end of summer and into early fall.

While grape growers had a wet, challenging July, the weather heading into harvest is looking great and Bailey’s is looking at good yields this season, says Vineyard Manager Aimee Arrigoni. The winery provides each volunteer a coupon for a free bottle of wine and a Neapolitan pizza for four hours of help.

Come spend a morning outside in the Driftless with a great group of folks – the Itasca grapes are ripening quickly and will be next up. To participate in future harvests, email Arrigoni at aimee@baileysrunvineyard.com.
