Gaffney Selected As Supreme Beef Exhibitor

Kelly Gaffney of Iowa County is the 2024 Wisconsin State Fair Beef Supreme Exhibitor. The Supreme Exhibitor award is based on a junior exhibitor’s overall achievements at the 2024. This is determined by points earned participating in the Junior Beef show, Quiz contest, Communication contest and Showmanship.

Gaffney has exhibited at Wisconsin State Fair for nine years. She grew up on her families Angus cattle farm in southwest Wisconsin. As an exhibitor at Wisconsin State Fair, Gaffney has also spent many years watching her older sisters show. She says the quiz contest was a great way for her to test her knowledge while competing against other likeminded individuals.

Gaffney is currently a junior at Kansas State University majoring in Animal Science with a minor in Ag Communications. As an active part of Gaffney Family Cattle, she oversees herd health, breeding decisions, and manages the show barn and cattle. In the future, she is committed to helping the family business continue to grow and thrive.

One of Gaffney’s favorite Wisconsin State Fair memories is winning Reserve Supreme Champion Heifer her first year as a junior exhibitor. She says she then celebrated with a cream puff!
