The week started with temperatures well above normal, allowing farmers in the southern part of the state to seed oats and alfalfa and spread manure. Heavy precipitation later in the week, however, left fields water-logged across the state.
Topsoil moisture condition rated 0 percent very short, 4 percent short, 54 percent adequate, and 42 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture condition rated 2 percent very short, 5 percent short, 68 percent adequate, and 25 percent surplus.
There were a few reports of corn being planted. Oat planting was 2 percent complete, while spring tillage was 3 percent complete.
Pasture and range condition was rated 35 percent good to excellent.
Winter wheat condition was rated 51 percent good to excellent.
