The Dairy Business Association (DBA) honored Paul Fetzer of Fetzer Farms with the Advocate of the Year award yesterday. This prestigious award recognizes farmers who excel in farm management, community involvement, and agricultural leadership.
“I’m amazed by this award and thankful to everyone here and those who aren’t,” Fetzer said. “Our farm’s success wouldn’t have been possible without DBA and the support of positive consultants. I hope our farm continues for generations to come.”
Paul Fetzer’s dedication to Wisconsin’s dairy community reflects a family legacy of contributing to the greater good. He and his family manage Fetzer Farms, a centennial farm in Elmwood, Wis. The farm has evolved into a modern 1,400-cow operation. Fetzer and his wife, Char, work alongside brothers Steve and Joe. They incorporate the latest technologies to keep their farm productive and future-ready.
Fetzer and his family are strong advocates for helping others understand how modern farms operate. They host Breakfast on the Farm, offer farm tours to groups and students, and actively participate in local events. Additionally, Fetzer served nine years on the DBA board of directors and 11 years on the Ag Partners Co-op board. He was deeply involved in policy issues and frequently traveled to Madison to meet with lawmakers.
“Paul is an exceptional leader who has helped move dairy forward,” said Tim Trotter, DBA CEO. “He was an insightful leader and a key figure in growing our policy efforts. Upon his retirement in 2023, he became the longest-serving chair of the Government Affairs Committee.”
Fetzer’s dedication to advocating for dairy farmers is evident in his ongoing work with policymakers. His commitment ensures that lawmakers understand the challenges faced by today’s farmers.
Over 400 farmers and professionals attended the Dairy Strong conference, which featured presentations on dairy policy, farm management, and sustainability.
