Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center Celebrates Six Years

Over the last six years the Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center has been able to welcome tens of thousands of visitors. They are now celebrating their six-year anniversary. Abigail Winkel, the brand manager for the discovery center, was able to explain what people should expect for this anniversary celebration.

“We are celebrating with a three-day weekend event that includes free youth admission,” explains Winkel. “Here at Farm Wisconsin, we are wanting to celebrate and welcome families that have been here in the past as well as ones that have never been here. We encourage them to come on out and take advantage of the special admission deal.”

The celebration will have special events each day. These events include a visit from goats, a drone presentation, new menu items in the cafe, and much more.

Winkel says, “We really have grown immensely since opening our doors in July of 2018. With the pandemic we were able to find new ways to share the story of Wisconsin agriculture.” She also explained that the idea for the discovery center was created by local farmer Norville Dvorak. He planted the seed that led to hundreds of people coming together to create the Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center.

One must see at the discovery center is the birthing barn. In the birthing barn visitors can watch a cow give birth to a calf and watch the calf have its first meal. Another farm life experience visitors can get are the combine simulators. Here people can feel what it is like to be in the cab, harvesting a crop. There are also many other hands-on learning experiences for people to explore during their visit as well.

Winkel says that they are not a museum because they don’t want to focus on the past of agriculture. Instead, they want to be able to have visitors learn about current farming and what is to come in the future of Wisconsin agriculture.

The Wisconsin Farm discovery center is open Thursday through Saturday from 9am to 4pm. They are excited to welcome everyone to help celebrate their six-year anniversary.
