Eggs Down Slightly

Wisconsin egg production during April was 205 million eggs, down 1 percent from the previous April, according to the latest Chickens and Eggs report from the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

The average number of all layers on hand during April was 8.13 million, up 1 percent from last year. Eggs per 100 layers for April was 2,517, down 2 percent from a year ago.

Meanwhile, U.S. egg production is down 1 percent from last year totaling 8.93 billion during April.

The average number of layers during April for the U.S. totaled 375 million, down 2 percent
from last year. April egg production per 100 layers was 2,381 eggs, up 1 percent from the year before.
Total layers in the U.S. on May 1 totaled 371 million, down 4 percent from last year.
