Egg Production Bouncing Back

Wisconsin egg production during August was 150 million eggs, up 3 percent from last month but down 13 percent from last year, according to the latest report from USDA.

The average number of all layers on hand during August was 5.69 million, up 3 percent from last month but down 15 percent from the same month last year. Eggs per 100 layers for August were 2,631, down slightly from last month but up 3 percent from last August.

U.S. egg production totaled 9.10 billion during August, down 2 percent from last year. Production
included 7.78 billion table eggs, and 1.32 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.23 billion were broiler-type and
91.0 million were egg-type.

The average number of layers during August 2022 totaled 371 million, down 3 percent from last year. August egg production per 100 layers was 2,450 eggs, up 2 percent from August 2021.
