Dane County Dairy Promotion Gives To Local Food Pantries

The Dane County Dairy Promotion Committee has donated $500 each to six food pantries serving communities across Dane County, with the request that the funds be used primarily to purchase dairy products. Community food pantries in these communities: Belleville, Black Earth/Mazomanie, Cambridge/Deerfield, DeForest/Windsor, Mount Horeb, and Waunakee.

The committee’s goal is to help ensure that families facing food insecurity have access to milk,
cheese, yogurt, and other dairy staples, especially during the upcoming holiday season.

“We’re excited to support these pantries and promote the nutritional value of dairy,” said John
Haag, president of the committee. “This donation reflects our commitment to both community
nourishment and agricultural education.”

The Dane County Dairy Promotion Committee is active year-round, hosting events like Cows
on the Concourse and Dane County Breakfast on the Farm, and providing $5,000 in
scholarships and nearly $10,000 in sponsorships to youth and agricultural organizations
including FFA chapters, 4-H clubs, churches, the Association of Women in Agriculture, Dane
County Holstein Breeders, World Dairy Expo, Collegiate Farm Bureau, and the Badger Dairy
Club.
