Humans and cows have more in common than you might think, including the need for probiotics in a balanced diet. Chr. Hansen, a bioscience company and supplier of food cultures, works to improve the health and wellbeing of humans and animals through the use of probiotics.
Dr. Steve Lerner, vice president of North America sales and marketing for Chr. Hansen, says that laboratory science can be used to determine which strains of an organism achieve specific goals including reducing pathogen loads or harmful bacteria in the gut. When implemented, these can increase overall animal productivity.
With their focus on sustainability, Lerner says that Chr. Hansen is working to find more renewable energy sources for their facilities and to further expand their products globally.
Lerner says supply chain disruptions haven’t impacted their ability to get products to customers and that labor shortages also haven’t been an issue, as some employees have been with their business for more than 40 years.
