Congratulations Brayden Peter, the 2024 Wisconsin State Fair Swine Supreme Exhibitor!
The Supreme Exhibitor award is based on a junior exhibitor’s overall achievements at the 2024 Wisconsin State Fair. It includes the Junior Swine show, Quiz contest, Communication contest, and Showmanship.
Peter’s involvement with swine started years ago when he and his family began exhibiting in the Open Swine Show. He enjoyed the opportunity to meet a diverse range of people and immerse himself in the competitive environment. Competing in the Junior Swine Show allowed Peter to pursue his passion of showing livestock in a competitive setting while building lasting friendships with fellow exhibitors. In addition to showing six years in the Wisconsin State Fair Junior Swine Show, he has participated in the Open Swine Show for seven years.
He is currently a junior at UW-Platteville furthering his education in agriculture. Upon Peter’s graduation, his goal is to pursue a career within the agricultural industry to contribute to the continued growth and innovation of the industry. Alongside his professional aspirations, he is committed to expanding his show pig operation, with plans to compete at both state and national levels.
A special Wisconsin State Fair memory for Peter is when he won Supreme Champion Breeding Gilt in the 2022 Junior Swine Show.
“All of the long nights, early mornings, and dedication to caring for my animals culminated in this moment of success,” he says. “What made it even more special was the fact that the gilt was bred and owned by me—I had the privilege of raising her from the very beginning. This victory wasn’t just about the competition; it was a testament to the hard work, passion, and commitment I had poured into my operation.”
