Boost Your Yields with BASF’s Real Results Challenge

Farmers now have a new opportunity to improve their crop yields with the launch of BASF’s Real Results Yield Challenge. This initiative aims to show how fungicides can protect yields and maximize returns.

Recent USDA data shows that average crop yields were down 5% in late 2024. “We heard many farmers express regret over missed fungicide applications that impacted their yields,” said Brady Spangenberg, Marketing Director for Crop Protections with BASF US Agricultural Solutions. “By planning ahead, growers can reduce this risk and avoid those disappointing results.”

Spangenberg explained that relying only on disease visibility can leave crops vulnerable. “Heat, drought, and wind stress can combine with disease, making early fungicide application crucial,” he said.

Farmers can join the Real Results Yield Challenge by working with their retailer to plan trials on their fields. Both experienced users and first-time participants are encouraged to explore new spray patterns, rates, or application methods like aerial or drone spraying. BASF will support the chemical costs for qualifying trials.

“We know that if farmers try something new and see the benefits, they often continue with that strategy,” Spangenberg added. “In fact, 70% of farmers in our trials have continued using BASF fungicides after their initial experience.”

Farmers interested in joining the challenge should contact their retailer by early June to allow time for proper planning. Participants can submit yield data and field photos for additional recognition.

“This challenge is about minimizing risks and maximizing returns,” Spangenberg concluded. “By using a broad-spectrum fungicide with long-lasting control, farmers can better protect their investment throughout the growing season.”
