The Badger Steam and Gas Show in Baraboo returns this weekend for its 62nd year. This show is honoring the machines, skills, and traditions that have shaped Wisconsin agriculture.
“This year, we’re featuring Ferguson tractors and Ford and Fordson cars, trucks, and tractors,” said Steve Roudebush, president of the Badger Steam and Gas Engine Club. “There’s a lot going on—displays of agricultural and industrial equipment, sawmills, thrashing, and plowing with steam and gas tractors.”
Since joining the club in 1976, Roudebush has seen the event grow from a handful of steam engines at the Baraboo fairgrounds to hundreds of tractors and thousands of gas engines on its own grounds. New this year is a working well driller demonstration, plus rare Ford and Ferguson equipment from across the U.S.
One highlight is the daily 2 p.m. parade, along with music, kids’ activities, and plenty of food. Admission is $10, with shuttles and accessibility accommodations available.
“You won’t see it all in one day,” Roudebush said. “Everybody has a different interest, but no matter where you start, you’re going to get memorized by it all.”
The show runs August 15–17 on the club’s grounds off Sand Road in Baraboo. The gates open at 7am each day and they stop entries at 3pm.
