1,000 Students To Visit Dairy

Sheboygan County Farm Bureau will be hosting Classroom on the Farm at Majestic Crossing Dairy Farm in Plymouth on May 5 and 6.

Roughly 1,000 third and fourth grade students from Sheboygan Area School District, Sheboygan Falls, Random Lake, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah and Zielanis School will be in attendance. Two groups of students will attend each day from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 12-2 p.m.

Students will rotate through nine stations on various agricultural topics including: Let’s Milk a Cow, Wisconsin Agricultural Diversity, Robotic Milking Demonstration, Beef, The Cow Doctor, A Day in the Life of a Cow, Farm Machinery, A Cow Needs to Eat, and Baby Calves.

Presenters include local dairy farmers as well as area professionals from Nutritional Professionals, Riesterer and Schnell, CP Feeds, Sheboygan County Dairy Promotion Committee and Alice in Dairyland.

Each student will get a backpack of agricultural information representing all of Wisconsin agriculture as well as dried cranberries courtesy of the Wisconsin Cranberry Growers and Baker string cheese. Teachers will receive informational packets and artisan cheese courtesy of Sartori.
